Japanese MIDI Boom Box

US Yamaha MDP-10 FDD MIDI Player      02/08/21

Portable stereos are synonymous with tape cassette decks, as well as radios and possibly a CD player (for the non-purists). Here we have a seemingly new take on the theme, with a 1990s MIDI-playing boom box. It's called the YAMAHA MDP-10 FDD MIDI Player and it can playback MIDI music flies from floppy discs shown here playing the Doom theme by Mick Gordon.

You have the unique ability to mute tracks which is exciting for game music fans - it has MIDI in too, so it may be possible to play those exact sounds! It uses AWM synthesis with 32-note polyphony and has 16 parts multi-timbrality. It has tonnes of on-board sounds including 737 GM/XG timbres + 22 drum kits and 3 FX processors.
