Spitfire Audio Announces Scoring Competition

Score a clip from DC Entertainment's Stargirl      16/07/21

Spitfire Audio have teamed up with A-list composer Pinar Toprak (Captain Marvel, Fortnite,DC's Krypton), DC Entertainment and Mad Ghost Productions to offer the composing community an amazing opportunity to showcase their skills. Here's the details that they have suppled:

After an incredible 11,000 entries for last year's Westworld competition, Spitfire Audio have secured an un-scored, action-packed clip from the hit DC Universe series Stargirl. Composers can download the clip then create and submit their own score to be in with a chance of
winning some amazing prizes. Pinar Toprak, the series composer for Stargirl, will pick the winner and runners-up.

Prizes
The winner of the competition will receive:

  • Spitfire Audio Everything Collection - every Spitfire Audio library on two external
  • SSDs, worth over $20,000 if bought separately
  • A virtual mentoring session with series composer, Pinar Toprak
  • A manuscript of the Stargirl Theme, signed by Pinar Toprak

 

The four runners-up with receive:

  • Spitfire Audio Albion Collection
  • A manuscript of the Stargirl Theme, signed by Pinar Toprak

 

Working with high quality visual content and working around dialogue and FX, the competition is a great chance to practice composing to picture or even try it for the very first time. The Spitfire Audio Forum has a section dedicated to advice on scoring and sharing your submissions.

How To Enter

  • Download the music-free Stargirl clip from spitfireaudio.com
  • Complete your score in whichever DAW you choose
  • Upload and set it to 'Public' on your own Youtube account with the tag #MyStargirlScore
  • Submit your score to the competition via the application form on spitfireaudio.com
  • The deadline to enter the competition is 23:59 BST on the 12th August 2021
  • The winner and four runners-up will be announced on the 23rd September 2021

About Pinar Toprak
Pinar Toprak is one of the most refreshing voices in music composition today with a diverse body of work spanning across film, television, and video games. She has composed for major superhero sagas like Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel, DC's Stargirl on The CW, and SY-FY's Superman prequel series Krypton. She also scored HBO's six-part docuseries McMillions, as well as Epic Game's 'Fortnite'
Toprak was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey where she began her classical music education at the age of five. After studying composition and multiple instruments at the conservatory she moved to Chicago to study jazz, before continuing on to Boston for a degree in film scoring from Berklee College of Music.

About DC's Stargirl
Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (series star Brec Bassinger) as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to take up the legacy of a long lost superhero team--The Justice Society of America--and stop the villains of the past.

Stargirl is available to view on The CW in the USA and Amazon Prime in the UK. Season 2 premieres on the 10th August 2021.
