Pro Tools Update More Than Doubles Voice Count

Deep conversation on the new Hybrid HDX Engine      01/07/21

AVID have just announced the release of the the new Hybrid HDX Engine which effectively integrates native processing power with the zero latency of the HDX DSP. This does several things, even on a single card HDX DSP system, the track count is significantly increased from up to  768 to 2048, the latency can be managed automatically and zero latency recording can be enabled by putting a track into DSP mode which then uses the HDX DSP.

Our resident Pro Tools user Steve Evans had an in depth chat with VP of Audio Management - Francois Quereuil - they get deep into the nuts and bolts of what this means, as well as other improvements.

The Hybrid Engine maximizes Pro Tools performance by intelligently splitting processing between native and HDX DSP mix engines. It lets users take advantage of their host computer's robust mixing and processing power while also giving them immediate access to HDX's onboard DSP for supplementing computing power and recording through AAX DSP plugins with virtually no latency. As a result, users can run massive sessions more smoothly, with remarkably low CPU load, optimized voice usage and reduced system delay.

Pro Tools | Ultimate users with a current subscription or software maintenance plan receive the Hybrid Engine automatically with the June 2021 release of Pro Tools. Learn more about the HDX Hybrid Engine and Pro Tools | Ultimate at  https://www.avid.com/resource-center/hdx-hybrid-engine
