Designing A Phenakistoscope With Drew Tetz

Vinyl artist shares tutorial on his fantastic revolving illusions      04/03/21

Artist and Graphic Designer Drew Tetz has established himself as one of the most innovative vinyl artists in recent years. His animated designs come to life on turntables and have been embedded in releases by Daedleus and many other artists. He's created a tutorial for makezine to make your own, with just a printer, a record deck and a camera required - a perfect weekend project and a great one to inspire the kids!

The idea behind the designs is from 1882, created by Belgian scientist Joseph Plateau with the effect can be made using only 24 frames of animation on a 78RPM record player. Drew has created a video to show how to view the pieces as well as making a 14 page PDF of designs available on his website.
