Last week we shared a couple of videos of BANTAMWEIGHT, making gargantuan sounds between just two band members. Vangelis and his incredible symphonic orchestra may well be able to give them a run for their money, with a phenomenal performance on his custom setup.
In this video - which we realize some of you may have seen before, he plays a host of instruments selected using a dedicated console and seamlessly performs an orchestral piece using keyboard, foot pedals and expression controllers.
Much of the setup is connected to hardware synths and samplers for emulation of real world instruments and orchestral ensembles.
The video info explains that the gear is connected in MIDI Omni mode, meaning the foot switches enable or disable certain elements. Using these foot controllers, he fades in and out layers of orchestra and synthesizers in different registers, which means he can cover a wide range without having to cover a lot of keys - its a great way to do it, though would require much practice with the foot controllers.
