3dPdModular - Pure Data Hardware Modular Launched

Hardware PureData system now live      09/06/20

A new modular synthesizer system has been launched via crowd funding site GoGetFunding.com by Alexandros Drymonitis. Its a system built around PureData and runs on a Raspberry Pi 3 or 4 (You need to add that to the price) but with a selection of discrete patchable modules. Patches can be snapshotted via a mobile app as detailed notes on how the patch was set up, including routing and knob positions, so you can rebuild it.

Modules are the same size as Eurorack, but are not compatible directly as the voltages are different, hence they need to be mounted in a custom case which is included in the rewards levels. Alexandros tells us he's working on an interface module for Gate and CV to 3dPd format as well.

Each module's PD patch loads on boot with the system detecting which of the available modules are installed.

3dPdModular sets a new approach to modular synthesis. It is an open-source plug-and-play modular synthesizer system running on a single Raspberry Pi computer (3 or 4), programmed in the Pure Data environment (although no programming skills are required)! It includes all standard modular synthesizer features, like oscillators, filters, envelopes, etc. but offers a range of unique features like saving patches to your phone via our mobile app, cloning modules, cross-fading between patches, generic modules that can be programmed by the user, and many more!

The GoGeMeFunding.com project runs until the 1st of July with various levels of support available from a 7 module system starting at €650 including a case, up to €1550 for 18 modules and three cases.
