US Closed-back, over-ear Hi-X55 are now available 16/04/20

Austrian Audio and distributor Sound Technology Ltd. have announced immediate UK availability of their new made-in-Austria Hi-X55 professional headphones. They tell us that, featuring exceptional audio performance and comfort, the closed-back, over-ear, Hi-X55 is the first model in the company's new Hi-X (High-Excursion) Series which will also soon include the Hi-X50 on-ear version. Enhanced Comfort, Reduced Fatigue

Designed for professional use, the Hi-X55 circum-aural, closed-back headphones provide incredible over-the-ear comfort. A double acoustic wall was designed to achieve the best damping results, with the form factor of the earpads completely rethought, giving more room for the ears without enlarging the earcups, reducing fatigue from long listening sessions.

Custom-Designed 44mm Hi-X Driver

Developed from scratch, the all new Austrian Audio 44mm Hi-X (High Excursion) driver features a ring magnet system allowing improved air-flow and the strongest magnetic field in its class. This ring magnet structure, coupled with a copper-clad aluminium voice coil, reduces the weight of the membrane and the voice coil that sits on it. This allows the membrane to move or change direction faster, providing a better impulse reaction.

Our science, measurements, and listening tests have shown that 44mm is the optimum size for this design. It ensures professional performance in the Hi-X, moves a lot of air, and eliminates ‘wobbling’ of the diaphragm. This is akin to damping of the driver mass, which is where our membrane really shows results: it is ultra-stiff while still reducing unwanted resonance.

Portable and Sturdy

For useful portability the Hi-X55 feature a sturdy foldable hinge design. Metal parts are used for all critical elements in order to guarantee long durability even under rough conditions, be it in studios or tour buses.
