Gotharman's SpazeDrum Released

US Pre-orders are being taken for the analog drum synthesizer with sequencer      14/04/20

Gotharman’s has announced that SpazeDrum is available for pre-ordering with shipping expected to start in June. It is described as an analog drum synthesizer with sequencer and Gotharman's unique highend effects and filters. Here'smore details direct from Gotharman...

Voice Structure
It has 4 analog voices, that each has 4 parts - 16 parts in total. With the 4 parts of each analog voice, it is possible to program 4 variations of the same sound, or even 4 completely different sounds, that will cut each other off, when playing them back.

The Drum Oscillator of each part can be set up to one of four configurations, at a time:

Analog Percussion - A dual analog percussion oscillator and a digital oscillator. The analog percussion oscillator has special parameters like Shape, Buzz and G-Ray feedback. The digital oscillator can run in several modes, like waveform, resonator, percussion oscillator, cymbal oscillator, clap oscillator and sampler. Each oscillator can have most parameters modulated by any modulation source. The analog percussion oscillator can be FM'ed by a percussion noise source and by the digital oscillator. Can produce kicks, snares, analog hihats, toms, claps, noise and much more...

Analog Cymbal - A dual analog percussion oscillator and a digital oscillator. The analog cymbal oscillator has special parameters like Shape, Buzz and G-Ray feedback. The digital oscillator can run in several modes, like waveform, resonator, percussion oscillator, cymbal oscillator, clap oscillator and sampler. Each oscillator can have most parameters modulated by any modulation source. The analog Cymbal oscillator can be FM'ed by a multiple square wave source and by the digital oscillator. Can produce metallic sounds like cymbals and hihats, noises and much more...

Analog Clap - A dual analog percussion oscillator and a digital oscillator. The analog clap oscillator has special parameters like Shape and G-Ray feedback. The digital oscillator can run in several modes, like waveform, resonator, percussion oscillator, cymbal oscillator, clap oscillator and sampler. Each oscillator can have most parameters modulated by any modulation source. The analog Clap oscillator can be modulated by a clap oscillator, to produce the classical clap sound, and it can be FM'ed by a noise source and by the digital oscillator. Can produce hand claps, noises and more...

Synthesizer - 2 digital oscillators, going into 2 analog lowpass filters with separate cutoff and resonance controls, and G-Ray feedback. Each of the digital oscillators can run in several modes, like waveform, resonator, percussion oscillator, cymbal oscillator, clap oscillator and sampler. Each oscillator can have most parameters modulated by any modulation source. Most analog filter parameters can also be modulated. Oscillator 1 and the analog filters can be FM'ed by Oscillator 2. Can produce a wide variety of synthesizer sounds, including drum sounds.

The FM is done via hardware circuits.

After the oscillator section, it has 2 digital multimode filters, to shape the sound further, that is coupled in parallel to each other. Both oscillators can be routed to both filters, or oscillator 1 can go to filter 1, and oscillator 2 to filter 2. Most of the filter parameters can be modulated.

After the digital filters, the sound enters 2 insert effect processors. While the oscillators, the analog filters and the digital filters can have different settings for each part, the insert effects can only have settings for each of the 4 analog voices. Each analog voice has 2 insert effect processors - 8 in total. The effect type for each insert effect processor can be chorus, distortion, bit crush, a selection of pitch shifters, time strech, delays, parametric EQ, filters, compressor, expandor, bass enhancer, variator and sample pitch. Each insert effect can be placed before or after the VCA. Up to 3 parameters can be modulated at a time, for each insert effect.

After (or before regarding to the settings) the insert effects a VCA is located. This can be modulated by its own ADSR envelope, to set the amplitude shape of the sound. It can also be modulated by any other modulation source. From the VCA, the sound can be sent to the audio outputs, or to one or both of the 2 output effects.

The last stage of the audio chain is 2 output effect processors. Each part can be sent to one or both of these. The possible effects here is reverb, delays, granulators, sample pitch, time stretch, abstruct0, variator.

Analog Outputs
4 analog outputs can optionally be added. Each of these outputs has an analog VCA. So when audio is taken from these, and one of the analog drum structures is selected, the sound path will be purely analog. When the Synthesizer oscillator structure is selected, the analog output will be 2 digital oscillators/sampler going through 2 analog filters and an analog VCA. Effects can not be outputted throiugh the analog outputs. The 4 analog voices can output through their own analog audio output, or all 4 voices can be mixed to analog audio output 1..

Sequencer
The SpazeDrum sequencer has 16 note tracks. 1 track for each part. Each track can be up to 64 steps long, and the resolution can be set between 1/64 and 1/1 with triplets included. The number of steps and the resolution can be set separately for each track. Each note track contains 5 subtracks: Note number, gate time, velocity, position and sub-position. The values for each of these subtracks, is set separately for each step. Notes can be recorded in realtime, in steps and in X0X style, and all the subtracks can be edited.

For each part, the 4 Edit Knobs can be set up to control any number of parameters via modulation. Each of the 4 knobs has a knob track assigned to them, that can control it. SpazeDrum has a total of 64 knob tracks, and each of these can be up to 64 steps long, and have their resolution set between 1/64 and 1/1 with triplets included. The number of steps and the resolution can be set separately for each track. A "Smooth" parameter are available, which when on, smoothens out the transition between each step. Knob movements can be realtime and step recorded to these tracks, and the tracks can be edited.

The tempo goes from 51 BPM to 306 BPM.

Modulation Sources
Most parameters can be modulated by modulation sources like 16 global multi waveform LFO's, 3 envelopes per part, 4 random generators per part, 4 knobs and knob tracks per part and MIDI velocity and CC's.

Solid
Built to last in a steel box with extruded aluminium sides. All powdercoated with a "Blue Sand" finish, that is very resistant to scratches and dust. All knobs, buttons and connectors are of the highest quality.
