Remix The New Grimes Single

Native Instruments announces a one-of-a-kind remix project      09/04/20

Native Instruments tells us that music-makers of all levels have a chance to put their spin on the genre-twisting sound of Grimes, as she teams up with them for a one-of-a-kind remix project. Here's the story in their own words...

Taking place on Native’s community platform, Metapop, Grimes is opening up her new single “You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around” to be remixed and reinterpreted by all. Having grown up on bootleg sampling and DIY creation, Grimes considers it a vital part of exploring personal style and creativity – and the goal of this project is simply to get people creating. That’s why Native Instruments is giving everyone who uploads a remix to Metapop a $25 NI voucher and one month of free samples and loops from Sounds.com.

Remixers also have the chance to receive some bigger NI prizes – but in the spirit of DIY creation, there will be no judging. Selected at random, one lucky participant will get all newly-released software from Native Instruments for the next year; five will receive NI hardware including MASCHINE Mk3 and KOMPLETE KONTROL S49; and each week there will be a chance to receive a copy of KOMPLETE 12.

Last week, Grimes released the music video for her new single “You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around,” from her acclaimed album “Miss Anthropocene”, inviting anyone to remix it during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a post on Instagram, she added, “Because we’re all in lockdown, we thought if people are bored and wanna learn new things, we could release the raw components of one of these for anyone who wants to try making stuff using our footage.”

Pricing and Availability:

Remix uploads close on May 22nd.
