NAMM 2020: New Mackie Monitors

Mackie has expanded their CR Series Multimedia Monitors, adding new models and a subwoofer to the line of compact nearfields. New to the CR Series is the CR3-X 3-inch, CR4-X 4-inch, and CR5-X 5-inch, as well as the Bluetooth enabled CR3-XBT 3-inch, CR4-XBT 4-inch, CR5-XBT 5-inch, and CR8-XBT 8-inch models. Adding new bottom end punch to the line is the new CR8S-XBT Bluetooth enabled Subwoofer. Here’s more details in Mackie’s own words…

The perfect upgrade for your desktop speakers, CR Series monitors deliver the performance you expect from a Mackie studio monitor. Ideal for home studios, multimedia content creation, AV post-production, gaming, broadcast and more, CR Series monitors offer studio-quality sound in a compact, well-designed package that’s equally at home in a high-end project room or your bookshelf.

CR Series monitors deliver clean, articulate sound, with the CR3-X and CR4-X offering 50W of power and the CR5-X pumping 80W. The new CR8S-XBT subwoofer delivers a full 200W. All models boast all-wood cabinets, polypropylene-coated woofers, .75” ferrofluid-cooled silk-dome tweeters, and specially designed waveguides for unmatched sonic clarity and consistent sound dispersion across all frequencies at all levels.

The distinct front panel design features brushed metal panels and a sleek, signature CR Green outline, with convenient front panel access to on/off/volume control and headphone jack. The speaker placement switch allows you to easily choose which side of your desk gets the volume control.

The new CR8S-XBT subwoofer is the perfect addition to any CR Series monitor setup, delivering 200W of powerful dedicated bass reinforcement. Its sleek design makes it a perfect match for any CR Series monitors, and its flexible rear panel inputs and outputs include 1/4” TRS and RCA connectors, as well as convenient Bluetooth connectivity and streaming. Dial in your sound just right with Input and Output level controls plus a variable crossover and polarity switch. The included CRDV Desktop Volume Control makes controlling your system a breeze, and adding Bluetooth connectivity to any set of monitors.

All CR Series Multimedia Monitors come ready to play, including acoustic isolation pads to minimize boomy bass build-up and provide up/down tilt control for more focused listening; speaker to speaker cable, 1/8” to stereo RCA cable for connecting to your computer’s output, and 1/8” to 1/8” cable for connecting to smartphone or media player. (Isolation pads not included with CR3-X and CR4-X.)
