US Producer follows up sold out inaugural master classes at ParSonics with new sessions      16/09/19

More Alan Parsons Master Classes

Hot on the heels of his sold out inaugural master classes at his new facility, ParSonics, Alan Parsons has announced a follow up weekend of mixing and recording training in Santa Barbara, October 17th and 18th 2019–especially for those not able to go to AES. Here’s the details direct from Alan…

The focus on October 17th is on mixing. The track will be taken from Alan Parsons' distinguished oeuvre, which gives Attendees the opportunity to enhance their mixing skills while hearing the backstory and provenance of a classic recording.

The mix will be in both stereo and Surround. Attendees of his first Mixing Master Class were surprised that Alan prefers to work on the Surround mix first, and then the stereo. Alan’s Surround mixing credentials were boosted in 2019 by his Grammy win for Best Immersive Album for the re-mastered 35th Anniversary Edition of Eye In The Sky. Attendees concurred: “I was especially impressed with Alan’s mix of In The Key of Silence,” one reported. Organic. Clear. Dynamic. Amazing.”

The second session, on October 18th, comprises a full day of band recording complete with a live tracking session, vocals, instrumental overdubs and rough mix. The band will be iconic indie rockers Toad the Wet Sprocket’s Glen Phillips and Dean Dinning supported by two guest multi-instrumentalists. Toad are best known for a succession of hits in the 1990s including All I Want and Walk On The Ocean.

“Mix engineers are glorified, but the tracking engineers are being overlooked,” observed another attendee of Alan’s July Master Classes. Parsons straddles both camps: a trained and trusted mix engineer and universally acknowledged as one of the world’s great recording engineers and producers. Recently, The Dark Side Of The Moon engineer has worked with artists as varied as ukulele maestro Jake Shimabukuro and second-generation prog rocker Steven Wilson. In June, Alan Parsons released his fifth solo album, The Secret that also features prog rock icon and ex Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett.

Meals and refreshments are included in the ticket price and attendees receive signed Certificates Of Completion for the class or classes they attended.
