Like your Grandmother, only with more authority 25/04/19
Just ahead of Moogfest, which is this weekend (we have someone there, so stay tuned for incoming), Moog announce the Matriarch. Which while having a similar look to the recent Grandmother, its different.
While it has the colour scheme of the Grandmother, its got a number of differences - first up four discrete oscillators which can be Mono, Duo or 4- note paraphonic.
Instead of the spring there's a stereo analog delay (700ms). Additionally you get a stereo Ladder Filter, and stereo VCAs. Plus a 90 point patchbay.
One thing that was very cool about the Grandmother was that the modules were essentially the same as in the Moog Modular products, only built using SMT components instead, so you got the same flavours of the CP-3 Mixer, the 904 Filter, the 902 VCA and the 911 Envelope. We assume that where applicable we'll get the same design philosophy with the Matriarch - the CP-3 mixer has a great driven sound when pushed hard.
The first 250 Matriarchs (Exclusive Moogfest editions) are available for preorder exclusively through Guitarcenter.com until April 28th. Its not clear as to when the Matriarch will be generally available.
