Spitfire Audio have teamed up with Church Studios, SA Recordings and Foundation FM to address the lack of women, non-binary and trans women in the recording and production industry.
Figures recently stated that women account for a tiny 2-3% of personnel in the studio and this is something that they are all keen to address.
The event is to be held at Church Studios on March 8th (International Womens day) - they will open the doors on sessions in all three studios with an array of women producers , artists and engineers.
The next day, 30 aspiring engineers (selected by public ballot) will take part on hands on recording and mixing workshops centred around a string quartet scored by Spitfire Audio in house composer Homay Schmitz, recorded by Fiona Cruickshank (Mary Poppins Returns, Murder on the Orient Express, Wonder Woman), mixed by Marta Salogni
(Bjork, MIA, Frank Ocean) at The Church and, finally, mastered by Katie Tavini (Classic FM,
Sonic Boom Six, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra). The day will finish off with a panel talk,
hosted by Foundation FM, discussing ‘Being an Engineer and Producer in 2019’, plus a
playback of the fully mastered track.
