MOK has introduced the Waverazor Dual Oscillator Module, bringing their patent-pending oscillator design to Eurorack format. Waverazor’s wave slicing synthesis presents a novel approach that splices waveforms into twisted and aggressive timbres. Enabling new sound generation techniques like Multi-Sync and Mutant AM, MOK says that the Waverazor oscillator is perfect for biting leads, glitched-out basses, cinematic pads and everything in between.
Taiho Yamada, co-founder at MOK, told us, “At NAMM 2017, we debuted our groundbreaking Waverazor plugin and now we’re thrilled to bring Waverazor’s unique sound into the hardware world where you can warp every parameter by grabbing real knobs. Not only that, but you can harness all the power of your modular by patching into the Waverazor Dual Oscillator Module’s 22 CV inputs, external audio input, and MIDI mini jack for additional modulation from up to 20 continuous controllers.”
Here's more details in MOK's own words...
One Waverazor oscillator can contain up to 16 wave slices, creating a multi-segment “Frankenstein” waveform that produces extended harmonic content. Each individual slice has independent control over wave pitch, volume, phase and DC offset, allowing a single oscillator to contain a multitude of timbral colors. Even the “Razor” itself can be adjusted, with parameters for its own slice frequency, step size multiplier and duty cycle.
Moreover, the Waverazor Dual Oscillator module provides a central oscilloscope that enables precise waveform creation. Four endless knobs make it possible to morph multiple parameters at once, while the touch screen enables X/Y performance controllers that allow you to manipulate your waveform with the touch of a finger.
MOK is an innovative music technology company focusing on new forms of audio synthesis and effects. The company was founded by Rob Rampley, Taiho Yamada and Chris Compton, designers and developers whose resumés include such acclaimed synthesizers as the Quadrasynth, QS8, Andromeda, Ion, Micron, Fusion, Venom, BioTek and Waverazor. MOK’s hardware engineering platform and its worldwide distribution are provided through a special partnership with 1010music. MOK software is distributed by Tracktion Corporation.
The Waverazor Dual Oscillator module is available for live demonstration at Winter NAMM booth #14201, Level 1, ACC North.
