Soniccouture has released Nyckelharpas: Scandinavian Keyed Strings for Kontakt Player and NKS.
A spokesperson told us, "Familiar yet somehow different, the sound of the Nyckelharpa walks a delicate line. Ancient and totally modern. The nyckelharpa has its roots back in the middle ages. Literally translated the name means keyed-fiddle in Swedish. The pitch of the notes is altered by pressing a wooden key, which frets the string. Featuring viola + cello tuned nyckelharpas, Soniccoutures' modelling dismantles the sound of this fascinating instrument, and rebuilds it with detailed user control over every element."
