Roland Cloud SYSTEM-8 Updated

US The Summer of SYSTEM-8 update is live with 2 new FM oscillators      20/09/18

Roland tells us that their Summer of SYSTEM-8 update has gone live. Here's the full details in their own words...

As you may already know, the Roland SYSTEM-8 is the result of over four decades of synthesizer development. Using the most powerful hardware synthesizer heart ever created by Roland, the SYSTEM-8 has three oscillators per voice, incredible multimode filtering, a myriad of modulation opportunities, and an array of Roland-quality effects. With the many unique oscillator and filter types available, it offers a sonic palette of almost limitless potential. This is why legendary artists the world over have already made the SYSTEM-8 part of their arsenals. The Roland SYSTEM-8 Software Synthesizer brings the powerful sound of this future classic to computer-based musicians and producers everywhere as part of the Roland Cloud membership!

For the "Summer of SYSTEM-8," we've improved on one of the most powerful software synthesizers on the market, the SYSTEM-8 software synthesizer. How? The answer is simple. Since the Roland Cloud SYSTEM-8 software synth is an exact duplicate of the hardware SYSTEM-8, we've adapted the all-new features from the latest 1.2 SYSTEM-8 hardware patch and applied them the Roland Cloud software version. The resultant software synthesizer went from powerful to unstoppable. Let's talk about what's new with this update...

2 new FM oscillators
For this update, the software SYSTEM-8 receives 2 new FM oscillators, each with 6 variations. This basically equates to having 12 new oscillators as part of the SYSTEM-8! The first variation has six FM waveforms produced by two sine-waves and the second variation has a combination of three sine-wave operations and two triangle wave oscillators.

5 new Filter variations
Roland Cloud has added 5 new filter options to the already expressive SYSTEM-8. These options now include the famous JUPITER-8 and JUNO-106 high and low pass filters. Ever wondered what an FM synth with a JUPITER-8 filter would be like? Now you can find out. There are two new formant filters that uncannily recreate the human voice. There's even a new harmonic filter that uses feedback to vary the overtone. The SYSTEM-8 is unparalleled in its versatility, going from glass to growl, or pluck to punch, with just a few knob tweaks.
