Using Logic X And A Beatstep As The Ultimate Drum Machine

On a previous episode of Sonic TALK, regular guest Yoad Nevo (producer, mixer and Waves developer) talked about setting up his Logic X session with his Arturia Beatstep Pro to allow him to use the rotary encoders scroll through soundsets, voicing up each pad from up to 128 sounds on each. Also using the Beatstep Pro sequencing to write patterns in his productions.

He does this by setting up a custom environment in Logic X which takes each pad and routes it to an ESX24 sampler instance (you can use other samplers of course) and using the pad's rotary encoder message and using that to transpose the MIDI note. So a keyboard full of kicks or snares or whatever can be auditioned and set on the fly - per pad.
