We've all been there, you have an old mixing desk lying around unused and you just don't know what to do with it.
Why not turn it into an actual desk?
Actually perhaps you haven't been there, but DIY expert and Youtuber Pherotone Studios, decided it was a good idea. And to be fair, it does look cool, though you might find yourself stubbing fingers as you try to reach through the glass to grab a fader... and I guess you could just sell it and buy some furniture, but where's the fun in that?
Update - its confirmed that the desk was not working.
The Mackie desk studio table was created from a Mackie 24 8 bus mixing desk, some lengths of 75mm x 50mm (3" by 2" timber) and a sheet of glass. If you're looking for ideas for a studio desk then this could be a good option. The only drawback is that an optical mouse won't work on glass so you'll need to visit 1993 and buy a mouse mat.
He posted a video on how he did it, should you want to try it yourself.
