Behringer Has Its Sights On Affordable Eurorack

More announcements of intent from Behringer, this time they are looking at getting into Eurorack, with their sights on affordable modules. They have released renderings of three Modules which appear to be derived from the Roland System 100/100M,  110 - VCO VCF VCA, 140 - twin envelope and LFO and 182 -  8 step 2 channel Sequencer.

Inevitably, there's also a call for suggestions and input. This seems to be their modus operandi these days - the "What would you like to see?" question.

While on the one had its probably a good thing that the potential buyers are being asked, it also signals a claim on the Eurorack market which has traditionally been the habitat of the smaller and boutique manufacturers.  This is bound to have an effect on future products, perhaps Behringer will be focussed (for now) on replications of classic modules,  which should encourage existing manufacturers to get more creative, and may well push the envelope, but one must also see the looming threat of a big player entering the traditionally niche Eurorack zone.

It is the free market in operation, but we also hope that as with the Neutron and DeepMind 12, there will also be some innovation from Behringer in this space and as a result everyone will benefit.
