Preview: Trace Elliot ELF and Transit B - Tiny Bass Rig
Small footprint - awesome power? 20/11/17
I remember the first time I plugged into a full Trace Elliot bass rig - the anticipation was keen, but the grin that broke out when I hit that first low E was something I won't forget.
It was in a music shop, and I'd bought my first bass guitar there - I'd played guitar for a while, but the experience of feeling myself and everything around me vibrating and rattling was awesome. I was smitten by the power of bass!
There was a time when having a Trace Elliot rig was almost necessary for any bassist with ambition - much like owning a car was a badge of a serious drummer (cos how else are you gonna get yer drums to rehearsals, eh?).
In recent years though, many other options have become available, and the famed British brand faded away almost completely for a while.
But they're back - under new stewardship - and with a small, but perfectly-formed portfolio of small, but perfectly-formed products.
In fact, products so small they are raising eyebrows - and a good deal of interest - so who better than Tech & Bass guru Gaz Williams to check them out.
Gaz will be putting the absolutely tiny ELF bass amp through its paces, and will be also checking out the Transit-B pre-amp multipedal unit - so we took them over to his studio to introduce them to him. He'll be doing a full review shortly, so if you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below.
