Google are continuing to push the envelope as far as AI goes. In this A.I. Experiment  called A.I. Duet from coder/musician Yotam Mann, you get to jam along with Google's AI  neural network which has been used to machine learn from a large number of input melodies, extrapolating the possible variations from an ever growing library of input notes. What Yotam discovered is that over time, the body of knowledge available to the A.I. engine means that it will respond in ways that have not specifically been coded to do.

Using the WebMIDI Chrome extension, it's possible to hook up an external MIDI input, play in your notes - it appears to work best in mono voicing, then hear what the AI can do with the notes. It's also possible to then play along with the result - hence the Duet name

It's early days, but quite a fascinating idea. The overall thrust behind it is to help educate the public on how AI has relevance and to presumably so that we will get used to Google's technology in our lives as we have done with so many of their innovations.
