So another year another NAMM and this year couldn't have run any smoother for us here at Sonicstate. We tried our streaming system for the first time at a show and we'd have to conclude that it was a success. We also had a new member of the team who slotted right into place, which was just perfect.

So onto what we all really want to talk about, modular synths.... Or maybe not if you not that way inclined, either way you're here now so you may as well stick around for some opinions based on nothing more than my own intuition and experience.

This year you could very definitely say was the year of the sampler in Eurorack and there is good reason for that. I am of the opinion that a Eurorack modular system should be small and highly functional with a lot of sound possibilities and what better way to get more sound into a small space than with a sampler.

This is also a symptom of the small industry/scene/community that Eurorack operates within. It has been clear over the last few years that samplers is an area that hasn't fully been explored in Eurorack and the industry has reacted. Or at least that's the way I see it, maybe I'm too romantic...

So here are a few of the Modular samplers that we shot at NAMM:
