The Drawmer S73 Intelligent Multiband Processor - is based on the same engine of the 1973 but is a preset based plug-in, removing some of the complexities of the original by giving you preset compression settings with the Style selector. It still has the same three multi-band processing but these are predefined with the presets. It also has the same parallel compression option, but not the Mid/Side processing of the 1973.

The Drawmer 1973  Multiband FET Stereo Compressor has become a modern classic - with 3 bands of FET compression, if offers a great deal of control over the mix and is used in mastering and track processing applications in many top facilities.

At the heart of it are the three separate bands with variable frequency crossovers - this allows you to process independent aspects of the full spectrum detailed sound shaping.

Softube's emulation, remains faithful to the original - it's officially approved by Drawmer, but adds Mid/Side processing and side chain processing for extra flexibility.

Dan M Gadea takes a look  at both and applies to to various mixes, busses and instruments.
