Best Mono Synth
Korg/ARP ODYSSEY
Perhaps a predictable choice, and not entirely a surprise, we did expect to see this at this show, but lets take a step back here - Korg (in conjunction with David Friend from ARP) have remade possibly the most popular analogue synthesizer ever made.
By many reckonings, the original Odyssey outsold the Mini Moog 2:1 back in the day and led a dual existence either side of the Atlantic - in the US is was used in the pioneering work in Jazz/Funk/Fusion with many artists such as George Duke, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock using it in their influential works.
In the UK it was an affordable instrument and played a big part in the blossoming electronic music scene - Ultravox, John Foxx, Human League and many more. The Kog/Arp Odyssey can now be yours - featuring the filter circuits from all three revisions - and it’s $999/£779.
