We all know what an 808 sounds like, we've all been exposed to the big booming kick drum that smashes you right in the chest, the cowbell that sounds nothing like a cowbell, the hats that cut through almost every mix... We all love an 808, whether its Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner, Phil Collins, NWA, Afrika Bambaaata, Beastie Boys, 808 State the list goes on and on... We were one of the first people to bring you an A/B comparison of the Roland TR8 with the original 808...

So to celebrate the legacy of the 808 we have put together this list of our favourite 808 tracks. First up heres Nicks choice...

Ok so I may have cheated slightly and put up a whole album... But if this isn't a tribute to the 808 then I don't know what is...

Next heres Rich's choice, in his own words "Production on the intro to that song is huuuuge!!"

I asked Andy what his favourite 808 track was and knowing that he's not really that into the 808 he replied saying that "if anything by Leffield, Groove Armada or Royksopp uses one then they'll do"... Luckily for him I found one, at least I think I did, those have got to be 808 hats no?... Otherwise Andy's favourite 808 track is Tina Turner .

And now for something completely different! Here is Robs choice, a stripped back version of David Byne playing "Psycho Killer" to a recording of an 808 played back through a boombox. Badass is all i can say...
