Les Paul Standard Celebrates Gibson's 120th Anniversary

Gibson says that the 2014 Les Paul Standard brings contemporary tones and playability to a legendary template and that they have now added commemorative Limited Run features and refined looks to make this guitar central to the 120th Anniversary celebrations. While retaining all the looks, the Les Paul Standard Light Flame adds extended voicing through coil-splitting switching, a lighter and more comfortable body, and your choice of a light flame top in three grades of maple--Level 3 (A+), Level 2 (AA), Level 1 (AAA)--all in Honeyburst finish in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. Here's what Gibson has to say in their own words...

A slightly thinner body and traditional 9-hole weight relief in the Les Paul Standard Light Flame's Grade-A mahogany body make this a superbly comfortable guitar to play, while adding a unique resonance to the tone. The glued-in Grade-A mahogany neck has a rounded '50s profile, and it topped with a bound Grade-A rosewood fingerboard with frets over binding and traditional trapezoid inlays, plus a commemorative "120th Anniversary" banner at the 12th fret. Burstbucker Pro pickups blend the best of vintage and contemporary characteristics, for deep, rich tones and plenty of cutting power without microphonic squeal at high volumes, plus the new Standard coil-split toggle switch for bonus single-coil tones. Groverâ„¢ Kidney Button tuners, a Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece lock it all down for superb sustain and optimum tuning efficiency, while a brown hardshell case keeps it safe from gig to gig.
