It's the most wonderful time of the year - the SonicState Gear of the Year Award winners are announced, and after revealing the winner of the amplifier category earlier this month, we can now reveal the winner of the best electric guitar category.
We started off with a (long) shortlist of electric guitars released in 2013, and opened up the voting to our readers.
A top five electric guitars made the final cut, and then a panel of SonicState editors, writers, reviewers and bloggers voted on which guitar would be crowed the winner, and which would be the runners up.
So let's get on with it, let's reveal the top five guitars in the SonicState Gear of the Year Awards guitar category.
5. Music Man Armada
One thing you can say about the Music Man Armada is that is definitely isn't a tried and tested design, it's something new, something bold, and no matter how you feel about it, you have to admit that it's striking.
The mahogany body simultaneously nods toward the Flying V, the Les Paul, and the Firebird, without actually looking like any of them.
The Music Man Armada is, hands-down, one of the coolest guitars released this year. It's high-spec, flashy, and is unmistakeably part of the Ernie Ball/Music Man cult lineage.
Weighing at around £2800 in most music stores, it'll set you back a fair wad of cash, but it plays like a dream and sounds like a classic rock and roll machine.
