Record, create, edit. Make music.

With Ohm Studio, you can record audio at high quality. Set up your audio interface, check the I/Os, arm your track(s), prepare your instrument and let's go! Once recorded, your tracks are directly available on the cloud for every member of the project. A rock band can have their raw tracks recorded in no time, every member from their own place, in their own time!

The same is true for MIDI. Choose an instrument - whether it's our UVI-powered multi-timbral instrument, some GForce included classic virtual analog, or any of your VST plugins - and record, draw and edit MIDI notes and events. Or let your partners do it for you.

Modular design for creative freedom

Besides the traditional mixer view, you can choose to view racks and their plugins in a modular fashion. Connect racks together using virtual cables. The only limit is the number of inputs and outputs of your plugins.

Racks, Plugins, Tracks, Patterns

Sequencing in Ohm Studio is based on a fundamental principle: what is usually known as channel strips on the mixer are called 'Racks' and they contain one or more Plugins. These Plugins - VST or proprietary - ultimately contain Tracks along which audio and MIDI Patterns will be sequenced. This system is powerful in that it allows you to manage multi-timbral MIDI instruments, create complex layers of automation, and more, all the while designing signal flow the way you want it.

You can get the hi-hat and the snare drum on separate tracks for the same drum patch or you can get that Minimonsta part in the same clip as its filter cut-off automation. Combined with audio/midi clips that support linked instances, ghost looping and trimming, Ohm Studio's logic of arrangement can fit all manner of composing styles.

Complete mixer

Once your tracks are done, mix them using inserts, left-right or mid-side panning and a completely flexible modular routing. If you don't know how to make it sound good, invite a friend or browse the cohmmunity to find a skilled mixing engineer... then simply watch the knobs move and faders slide up and down while the job gets done.
Import, export

Drag and drop audio samples or MIDI files and they will appear on the sequence and be synchronised (backed up) with the server in the blink of an eye. If you want to mix or master your tracks in another program, or for any other purpose, export all or part of your project to disk.

Easy to get started with

Despite the many possibilities Ohm Studio already offers, you can start making music quickly thanks to its simple interface and its similarity to other digital audio workstations in many respects. Built-in tutorials will help you understand most of the features: if you still need help, switch to the general chat and ask a question in plain English. Chances are that you'll get online tech support from another Ohm Studio user.

Being cross-platform and VST-compatible, Ohm Studio allows most people involved in music production to make music together. Many services labelled as collaborative music applications run within a web browser and at best offer the ability to sequence loops or record audio. Unlike its competitors, Ohm Studio is definitely closer to industry-standard applications used for composition, recording and production, while being coded from the ground up as a real-time collaborative application.
Work as usual, alone or with partners

Even if you are a newcomer in the world of music production, you will quickly feel at home in Ohm Studio. Log in to the Ohm Studio server, talk with people online, create a new project or join an existing one upon invitation. Start adding tracks and notes. Invite one or many friends to create an account on Ohm Studio and join your project. Time to sleep? Quit and resume a few hours later; marvel at the second verse that was completed during your absence. And if you like the idea of collaboration but would rather work alone at the beginning, use private tracks or private flags for projects and then unveil your contribution only when you deem it ready.

State-of-the-art document sharing algorithm

The software's collaborative architecture is based on Flip, an innovative algorithm developed in-house that is far beyond today's standards of collaborative technology. Quick bounce to make sure everybody hears the same song.

If you work with a third-party instrument or insert an effect plugin that only you in the project have, your partners will hear no sound from their outputs. However, all you need to do is quick bounce, which will render an audio file shared across all the members.

Every move auto-saved and backed up to the cloud

The slightest change in the project is uploaded to the server and synchronized across every member in real-time. At the same time, project data is also stored on your computer in a cache folder that you don't need to backup, because Ohm Cloud does that for you. If your computer crashes or if you buy a new rig, just reinstall Ohm Studio, log in, enter your project and get everything in its latest state... or choose a snapshot taken manually or automatically to go back to an earlier version.

Complete control over admin rights

Get admin status for each project you create. Make them private or public, hidden or visible, clonable or not. Change status later if you want. Invite a collaborator to act as admin like yourself or a collaborator that can be let go of if it need be.

Note that admin rights are completely distinct from copyright. Ohm Studio doesn't decide any more than a physical studio or a traditional DAW who owns what lawfully, so ultimately, it's still up to the people involved to reach agreement about this. Note, however, that Ohm Studio does provide a powerful way to establish who did what and when.

Browse people and projects using tags. Fill in your profile and present information about your level, the instruments you play, the genres you like. Bounce your projects to relative pages and even your profile for playback, whether they are completed or not. Mention what kind of skills you need and hopefully you will find the right collaborator to record a part or fine-tune the global mixing.
