Win An Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE Guitar

Epiphone, one of the world's oldest and most prestigious instrument makers, has announced a fall giveaway as part of the manufacturer's ongoing 140th Anniversary celebration. The Epiphone.com contest runs from Sunday, September 1, 2013 through Monday, September 30, 2013 and features the Masterbilt DR-500MCE (U.S. MSRP $999.00) dreadnought style acoustic/electric guitar.

The modern Epiphone Masterbilt series is a direct descendent of founder Epi Stathopoulo's proudest achievement in guitar design. The company says that, employing old world construction techniques and materials, the Masterbilt DR-500MCE is the ultimate combination of superb acoustic tone with state of the art electronics featuring the eSonic2TM preamp and Shadow NanoMagTM and NanoFlexTM neck and bridge pickup system.

"Founder Epi Stathopoulo was always looking towards the future and the Masterbilts, first released in the early 1930s, were very special to him," said Epiphone President Jim Rosenberg. "Epi's best friends were musicians and his Masterbilt guitars were welcomed by New York City's hottest players as some of the best of the era. The Masterbilt introduced the concept of a professional, affordable instrument that everyday musicians could count on. So what better way to celebrate our 140th Anniversary than to give away a new Masterbilt DR-500MCE!"

Here's Epiphone's description of the guitar...

The Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE has many of the key features that make vintage Masterbilts some of the most sought after instruments on the vintage market today, including a Solid Sitka Spruce top, solid Mahogany body, neck and sides, a dove-tail neck joint with hide glue, and a bone nut and saddle.  The modern guitar can also plug in and be heard on any size stage with the breakthrough eSonic2TM preamp system and the Shadow NanoMagTM and NanoFlexTM neck and bridge pickup system.  The eSonic2TM comes with a built-in tuner with output mute, EQ, stereo output, and an innovative anti-feedback switch.

Under the guitar's bone saddle is a NanoFlex™ low-impedance pickup made by Shadow, a leader in designing innovative pickups for acoustic guitars. Budget acoustic/electric guitars often use harsh-sounding piezo pickups that obscure the true tone of an acoustic guitar. But the NanoFlex™ uses a unique flexible sensing material featuring integrated active electronics that not only picks up string vibrations but also top and body vibrations as well for a truly acoustic tone not possible with piezo pickups.

Complementing the NanoFlex™ is the revolutionary NanoMag™ pickup mounted at the end of the fingerboard. The NanoMag™ features three Samarian-Cobalt magnets and an integrated active circuit to capture all the highs and lows, including a wide range of harmonics. With a choice of either a 1/4" mono output blending both pickups, or a 1/4" stereo output splitting the two pickups, DR-500MCE players have incredible flexibility to create the perfect acoustic tone. Masterbilt players can trust that the DR-500MCE will sound great acoustically or plugged in at festivals, clubs, or wherever the music takes them.
