  We are reviewed a Boss pedal every day for a month in March, and today, on the final day, it's the turn of the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, aiming to replicate the classic blues tones of the 1960s.

  We looked at 30 pedals this month, and then tomorrow, on the final day of March, we'll be doing a round up of our favourites. The idea being that you can quickly watch our bitesize reviews and compare one Boss pedal to another, and quickly see if you like the sound.

  There's a reason we put the BD-2 Blues Driver as the last review on this series is that everybody in the SonicState office loves it. Find the sweet spot, and you can get those murky electric blues tones which defined a genre.

  Rich's verdict - "The sounds I grew up listening to were those of Peter Green, Jeff Beck, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and pretty much anybody who made electric blues. Guitar tones from the 60s often get a bit of flack for the fact that they were muddy and murky, but I love those tones - they have real character, and I think it's difficult to replicate them properly in a pedal.

  "Boss have done a smashing job of creating a brilliant all round blues pedal. Flick onto your bridge pickup, knock the tone dial up a bit, and drive the gain, and you get a great early Eric Clapton sound.

  "Reel back the tone dial a notch, flick onto your neck pickup, and you get the smooth and dark Peter Green tone. This is a great pedal to end the series on, it's simple, effective and affordable."
