Amped Bitesize Review: Boss OC-3 Super Octave

Would you like some 'evil' with your guitar signal?   25-Mar-13

    MP4 4:5 mins

We are reviewing a Boss pedal every day for a month in March, and today, on day 25, it's the turn of the Boss OC-3 Super Octave, a pedal which is so evil that if you try and handle it with care, it will just punch you straight in the face.

The OC-3 is a sub octave pedal with a few other functions, including poly octave, a drive mode, and the ability to add a second octave.

We're looking at 30 pedals this month, and then on the final day of March, we'll be doing a round up of our favourites. The idea being that you can quickly watch our bitesize reviews and compare one Boss pedal to another, and quickly see if you like the sound.

Rich's verdict - "This is a seriously fun pedal, and that's what Boss do best, they create pedals which are fun to use, and that inspire creativity and make you want to keep on playing until your neighbour tells you to shut the hell up.

"The quality of the signal processing is top notch, sometimes sub octaves can sound a bit thin, but not on this pedal, it sounds rich and epic. It's very full-on, it's verging on evil... in a (very) good way.

"When you add some drive into the mix (on the pedal itself) it gets even wilder, but not uncontrollably wild. Out of all the Boss pedals, this is one that everybody should own, even bass players!"

RRP - £115
