It's the headline every writer dreams of writing, "Bumblefoot Recommends Hemorrhoid Cream Instead of Potatoes", but we genuinely didn't make it up... we just took it slightly out of context.

The Guns N' Roses guitarist has been a busy man this year, but Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal is showing no signs of fatigue after the band's residency in Las Vegas.

The guitarist recently spoke on the Dropping The Needle podcast and explained that in a roundabout way, the name "Bumblefoot" came from Ron's wish to form a band like KISS or the Beatles.

Originally he had wanted all the members in his band to contribute equally, but as his band mates gave less and less effort and Ron took more and more control, the name "Bumblefoot" eventually became his persona as a solo artist.

He also discussed the famous tale of how the name came about in the first place, from a medical textbook owned by his wife. The bumblefoot disease can be contracted by turkeys and chickens, and is treated by hemorrhoid cream, prompting Ron to say it goes with chicken "better than potatoes."

Bumblefoot went on to talk about his influences, and about the fanshare/crowdsourcing methods of raising money and selling records.

"I think it's a way for fans to assist musicians in cutting out the middleman," said the Guns N' Roses guitarist.

"The fans understand that the artist needs to survive and unfortunately it takes money to survive... we're just kind of figuring it all out. I think it's a good way to go."
