Roland has announced the DP90S and DP90 Digital Pianos, two new instruments which they say offer top-level sound and features in a modern, space-saving design. A Roland spokesperson told Sonic State, "With impeccable sound, comfortable playability, and attractive looks, the DP90 series sets a new standard in stylish, contemporary pianos."
Here's Roland's press release with the details:
Both the DP90S and DP90 feature Roland's SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine, which has received accolades from pianists everywhere for its amazingly realistic grand piano sound. With SuperNATURAL Piano, players can enjoy organic variations in tone throughout the entire dynamic range, notes that fade naturally.
Not found on conventional sampling pianos, the newly developed Soundboard Behavior function in the DP90 series emulates the natural characteristics of string vibrations on an acoustic piano soundboard. Based on the soundboard modeling found in the award-winning V-Piano®, this powerful technology enhances sound clarity, even when many notes are played simultaneously.
For the ultimate grand piano touch, the DP90S is equipped with Roland's flagship PHA III Ivory Feel Keyboard with Escapement. With fast key repetition and sensitivity, the PHA III faithfully translates the subtle tonal differences of various playing styles and dynamic techniques. The keys feature two-piece construction and are finished with a material that has moisture-absorbing properties, offering the natural texture and tactile sensation of real ivory and ebony.
The more affordable DP90 is outfitted with the Ivory Feel-S Keyboard with Escapement, which features the same progressive hammer action and escapement as the top-line PHA III. The keys are constructed of a one-piece proprietary material that provides excellent moisture absorbency.
In addition to a large selection of onboard grand piano sounds, the DP90 series is equipped with an Early Piano category that contains four fortepiano variations and two harpsichord variations.
A custom backlit LCD and clean, simple-to-navigate front panel provides ease of use. Music practice functions include a built-in metronome and a recorder, which lets users capture their performances as MIDI data, or audio files to optional USB memory. Users can also play along with their favorite WAV song files stored on USB memory.
With their sleek and modern furniture-like design, the instruments in the DP90 series blend beautifully and functionally into any home. A solid, soft-close safety lid can be used as a music rest when opened and a flat surface when closed. In addition, the built-in speaker cabinet creates a dynamic, resonant sound never before heard on similar-sized digital pianos, and energy-saving technology achieves a rich sound with low power consumption.
The DP90S is offered in two striking, mirror-like finishes: Polished White (DP90S-PW) and Polished Ebony (DP90S-PE). The standard model DP90 comes in handsome Satin Black (DP90-SB) and Medium Cherry (DP90-MC) finishes.
