Arctic Monkeys To Get Heavy On Guitar Orientated Album

Band will try a heavy guitar sound for new album   03-Jul-12

Arctic Monkeys are getting heavy, and after the flashes of riff brilliance on Suck it and See, that can only be a good thing.

The band dropped their earlier indie pop style for a more experimental approach when they worked with Josh Homme on Humbug, and then stepped it up another notch for Suck it and See.

They also trimmed back the unkempt hair of the Humbug days and have opted for a throw back to 1950s fashion of late.

After the success of single 'R U Mine', singer Alex Turner has announced that the band will be sticking with the heavy riff-based approach of songs such as 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I Moved Your Chair'.

"We just did this new song 'R U Mine' and I think that's where it's going to be at for us for the new record," Turner told Artrocker.

"We feel the strength of the last record is 'Don't Sit Down'. The other songs like that 'Brick By Brick' the other side of it is fine, but I'm not sure how much more of that we can do.

"I think we're going to go in the direction of those heavier tunes," he added.
