Soundiron has announced the release of their Olympus Micro Choir. They say that, more than just an ordinary demo pack, this compact little choir instrument contains just a small taste of the premium content you'll find in our Olympus Symphonic Choral Collection, featuring the truly massive Mars Men's and Venus Women's Choir libraries. Here's what Soundiron has to say...
We know how daunting such a huge collection can be and the significant investment it represents, so we designed this fully functional and playable demo kit to offer just a taste of the enormous possibilities that Olympus offers. This compact little choir instrument contains just a tiny slice of the wealth of premium sample and programming content you'll find in our Olympus Symphonic Choral Collection. It can also simply serve as a great-sounding choir pad set for those who just need the purest of basics, but still want the highest quality available, along with natural acoustics and an expanded range of control features.
We captured Mars and Venus using 63 hand-picked singers from the SF Choral Society, Volti and the SF Symphony Chorus, recorded in an acoustically enhanced large A-Frame chapel tucked away in the wooded hills of historic Montclair, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Using 12 large-diaphragm Neumann microphones in a carefully-placed and wide multi-position array, we meticulously recorded nearly 90 solid hours of ensemble and solo articulations, using specialized technique, intuition and theory to provide us the raw, fundamental building-blocks that this great library has been constructed from.
Despite it's humble size and scope, this instrument is surprisingly powerful. You still have control over dynamic intensity, tempo, playback start position, room decay time and volume, legato transitions, and more. With nearly full control over the performance, you can create entirely new phonetic combinations and syllable sequences from the raw material provided here. Full automation support means you can get as creative and complex with your arrangements as you like. For example, by using the Offset and Attack controls, you can create pure "Oo" vowel sustains. By shortening the release time, lowering the attack and adding additional reverb, you can approximate staccato-like notes. While the vast performance and control options we provide in the full version of Olympus are far beyond anything you'll find in Olympus Micro, it provides a glimpse of the tone, concepts and range of features you can enjoy in the full version.
Whether you've been curious about our Mars & Venus libraries and are still on the fence, or you're just now learning about it, Olympus Micro is the perfect low cost and easy way to begin your journey.
