Even I can see the usefulness of this technology. Being able to network all your controllers from (potentially) anywhere in the world is a very big step in the right direction for all programmers. 

CopperLAN have been developing this technology for some time now but are reluctant to enter the hardware market as they would have to compete with all the other programming controller companies out there. They have designed this framework to run with existing hardware and it means that once you have added your controller to the network you can control any other networked device.
