The Plugin Alliance has announced the forthcoming release of new plug-ins from SPL and Noveltech. The SPL plug-ins are Analog Code emulations of both versions of the hardware SPL De-Esser, the Classic 9629 and the new RackPack Dual-Band De-Esser. They have added M/S modes for mastering purposes.
The Noveltech plug-in is Character was available exclusively for the discontinued TC POWERCORE platform but is now available for all native formats and TDM / VENUE systems. The Plugin Alliance says that right now the plugin is undergoing some small adjustments and a facelift for a great new look (see the picture above, showing the work in progress). They tell us that the Character plugin uses Noveltech's IAF (Intelligent Adaptive Filtering) technology, which affects both the frequency response and dynamic properties of the input material in a highly time varying sense. Offering results you simply cannot achieve with traditional EQ or compression.
