Peavey Introduces Affordable Quality Basses For Metal Heads

Tragic 4 and Void 4 join the PXD series   31-Aug-11

Here's a little treat for you metal musicians out there. We think guitarists are more than a little spoilt for choice in the metal guitars market right now, so this time, we're making sure the bassists get some love.

Peavey have announced the release of two new basses to their PXD series. The Tragic 4, and Void 4, are two completely new bass guitars specifically tailored to the needs and tastes of metal bassists. As well as having an impressive technical spec, the new basses fit the part in terms of looks.

The best part is that it seems you might get a lot of bang for your buck, with both basses weighing in at just over £400. A good price we think, for a through neck, alder-body guitar.

As well as boasting alder bodies and through necks, both guitars feature Peavey VFL active pickups (a common trait they share with the popular Cirrus and Millennium AC Series basses, as well as sharing other electronics features). With these pickups you get the power of a three-band EQ with +/- 10 dB of boost and cut. To round this all off, both basses make use of an ebony fretboard with a maple neck. You can take home either model in gloss black, gloss white and gloss red.

Unfortunately we haven't managed to get our hands on one of these yet, but we're already guessing they could sound just a little bit mean.
