The AES shows are aimed at the pro-audio and broadcast worlds rather than MI, but that doesn't mean there's not some gear on display that's relevant to all sections of the audio world, and microphones are definitely of broad appeal, so it's always interesting to see what microphone stalwarts Sennheiser are up to.

In a display case was the new MK4 mic, first shown at the recent Winter Namm show, which is Sennheiser's first side-address large diaphragm microphone.

Also there was the KH120A monitor from Neumann

And pride of place was two new shotgun mics; the MKH 8060 short and MKH 8070 long versions.
These are part of the expanding 8000 series, which is a modular system, so you can add filter modules and even a digital module, allowing the mics to be plugged directly into any AES42-enabled input.
