Steve Vai has been recognized by the Guinness organization for, in conjunction with BerkleeMusic, holding the "World's Largest Online Guitar Lesson".

Guinness certified the world record based on 4,455 students within the first 15 minutes of the lesson. The event had close to 7,000 viewers over its hour-long duration.

"I hope this record encourages players to continue to cultivate their own unique style and spirit on the guitar," Vai said. "I think this record really showcases the interest that exists in guitar education worldwide."

The event was a promotion for Vai's online lessons through BerleeMusic.
