Popular Swedish Internet music site Spotify, which has more than two million users in Europe, is planning to invade the U.S. in Q3-4 2009.
"Don't expect a fancy marketing campaign," says Spotify's co-founder, Daniel Ek. "The money we could have spent on marketing is better spent on developing a better product."
Spotify offers a library of more than six million tracks, and is supported by audio ads and monthly subscription fees (£9.99 in Britain).
Spotify combines the idea of putting iTunes "into the cloud" (running as an Internet service, instead of as a local application) with the idea of making music discovery more social.
Here's Spotify's official intro video for their service:
Have you tried out Spotify yet? If so, leave a comment with your thoughts.
