IK Multimedia have announced that they have entered into an agreement with Hal Leonard, the world's largest music print publisher. Hal Leonard will now distribute IK Multimedia music production software and hardware to music stores in North America. Hal Leonard's Senior Vice President of Sales, Doug Lady, and IK's Managing Director, Gary Kerzner, negotiated the agreement that became effective May 1, 2009. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Here's details from the press release...
Founded in 1996, IK Multimedia is a privately held music software company headquartered in Modena, Italy with offices in the US and UK. The company has developed a new generation of award-winning music software designed to revolutionize the way beginners to professionals compose and play music.
IK is the industry leader in re-creating famous analog and tube gear – like guitar amplifiers and stompboxes – in software form. The company is the software partner of choice for such iconic brands as Ampeg®, Fender® and Jimi Hendrix™.
For example, IK's AmpliTube Fender® software puts a dream collection of a dozen vintage amps, plus stompboxes, mics, and rack FX at the hands of guitarists with never-before-achieved realism and accuracy in sound. For the retail price of $229.99, players gain virtual access to over $38,500 worth of Fender gear. IK also produces one of the most extensive collections of virtual instruments and sound workstations, mixing and post-production mastering tools, studio correction tools, and a variety of complimentary audio interfaces and midi controllers.
Founded in 1947, Hal Leonard Corporation (halleonard.com) is the world's largest music print publisher, producing songbooks, sheet music, educational publications, reference books, DVDs, CD-ROMs, children's music products and more. In its more than 100,000 available publications, the company represents some of the world's best known and most respected publishers, artists, writers and arrangers in print. Hal Leonard is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI and also has domestic offices in Winona, MN, New York and Nashville.
Kerzner comments on the deal, "Our companies compliment each other remarkably well. We're excited not only about exposing our existing software and interfaces to a much wider market, but also about the great potential to partner with Hal Leonard on innovative new products."
Lady says, "Like print music, computer music/recording software is among the fastest growing and most profitable segments of the music industry. We're pleased to help our retailers immediately boost their bottom lines by making it easy for them to stock and sell IK's amazing products."
