Digidesign has announced the upcoming release of Eleven, a new virtual guitar amp plug-in for Pro Tools, VENUE live sound, and Avid systems. Available in TDM, RTAS, and AudioSuite plug-in formats, Digidesign believe that Eleven provides the most ultra-realistic guitar amplifier, speaker cabinet, and microphone emulations ever made available for Pro Tools users, enabling guitarists and audio professionals to create stunningly realistic guitar tones.
Thanks to extensive research conducted with some of the industry’s leading guitar players, recording engineers, and music facilities, Digidesign say that the groundbreaking amp-modelling techniques employed in Eleven carefully emulate nearly every characteristic of guitar amplifier and speaker cabinet sound. This allows the Eleven plug-in to achieve tones with an unprecedented degree of realism by implementing sonic intricacies such as speaker cone break-up, amplifier sag, cabinet resonance, ghost notes, and more. By integrating these technically challenging and often-overlooked characteristics, Eleven emulations not only deliver exceptional sound quality, but also an extremely realistic experience—where the virtual amplifier setup feels and reacts to the player’s individual style and techniques in a way similar to that of a live amplifier.
Eleven offers a carefully selected emulations of modern amplifiers and speaker cabinets based on amps and cabinets from Vox, Fender, Marshall, Mesa/Boogie, and Soldano*, as well as several custom Digidesign creations inspired by the most revered amplifier designs in the world. Eleven also features groundbreaking, convolution-based speaker cabinet and microphone (on- and off-axis) modelling, the latter of which features emulations of popular dynamic, ribbon and condenser microphones. And while Eleven comes preloaded with a broad selection of great-sounding and easily accessible amp model configurations, it also allows independent selection and bypass of the amp and mic’d cabinet models, enabling users to create a near-limitless palette of their own unique signature sounds.
Digidesign Product Manager Bobby Lombardi told us, “It was tremendously rewarding to be able spend the time to do such a thorough measurement of all the critical components in the amps that we’ve included in ElevenThe results of this effort have allowed us to deliver what we believe is the best guitar amp experience in the digital domain.
