Alesis tell us that they have begun shipments of the highly anticipated DM5 Pro Kit.
Designed for both professional and aspiring drummers, Alesis tell us that the DM5 Pro Kit includes an updated DM5 sound module which contains a wealth of pre-programmed sounds and drum kits; ultra-sturdy hardware; and a professional, easily-portable tubular rack set-up (with firm-grip hardware mounts).
The five-piece Kit features six pads (snare, kick, and three toms – all with durable, real drum-heads for a more natural feel – and a heavy-duty hi-hat controller), and responsive crash and ride cymbals. It ships with a hi-hat foot pedal, and all necessary interconnect cables. Drummers can practice quietly with headphones or use the DM5 Pro Kit to get as loud as they want on-stage or in the studio.
With a broad assortment of percussive timbres that range from sampled acoustic instruments through innovative electronic sounds, the DM5 sound module offers 540 percussion sounds and 21 pre-programmed drum/percussion sets. Alesis say that the DM5 sound module provides a stunning assortment of instruments and percussive effects recorded in true stereo at 48 kHz in a single rack-mounted module. Featuring an ultra-fast trigger-to-MIDI conversion system with twelve trigger inputs and five programmable parameters for each trigger, the DM5 sound module’s feature set should provide drummers and percussionists with a wide range of control.
Adding even greater realism to its arsenal of sounds, the DM5 Pro Kit includes Alesis’ proprietary Dynamic Articulation feature which empowers the DM5’s drum sounds to respond to the force with which the pad is struck, adding nuance to the feel of every drum hit. The DM5’s Random Sample feature brings new life to static tracks by realistically varying the sound of the drum as it is played.
The DM5 Pro Kit hi-hat pad is controlled with a foot pedal that attaches via the sound module and facilitates switching between open and closed sounds. The kit also includes two natural motion cymbal pads that make it easy to configure the kit with ride and crash cymbals.
Pricing and Availability:
Available now from musical instrument retailers, the DM5 Pro Kit suggested retail price is $799. Estimated street price is $599. More information:
