Alesis have introduced their io|Control FireWire Audio Interface and Control Surface.
They say that the compact io|Control is the ultimate interface and control surface for both mobile recording and home studio use, merging practical and expandable audio interface with implementation of the most commonly used control surface features.
The io|Control allows for up to 12 channels of simultaneous input straight to your computer via the integrated, low latency Firewire interface. Featuring 4 built-in analog input (2 XLR, 2 balanced 1/4 line inputs), as well as capability for handling an additional 8 inputs of digital audio (ADAT), Alesis say that the io|Control is the perfect companion for mobile or studio recording and can handle even the most demanding recording tasks with ease.
What’s more, the io|Control functions as a fully-featured control surface for quick, intuitive control over the most common DAW commands. The jog wheel can be used to shuttle, zoom and enter data, while the six fully-assignable buttons provide different functions for setting markers, loop points and automation modes. All input tracks can be addressed with dedicated Mute, Solo and Record-Enable buttons per track. With three layers of four 360-degree knobs, the io|Control offers immediate control of up to 12 parameters, such as volume, pan and aux sends, and the 2 x 16 character LCD provides instant feedback on knob and button position and assignments. All controls are fully programmable, mappable to software parameters and can be recalled and stored to 20 preset locations.
In addition, the io|Control comes bundled with Cubase LE software for a complete recording setup, and is compatible with all DAW software products (HUI mode support required for control surface functions). Included template inserts and overlays are provided for most popular DAW programs.
The io|Control can be bus or adapter powered, which, say Alesis, makes it perfect for the musician on the go, whether recording on the road or in the studio.
