Digidesign have been releasing new RTAS instruments from their AIR (Advanced Instrument Research) laboratories in deepest Germany at quite a rate, (see our Music Production Toolkit review) and with the release of the new Velvet electric piano instrument and the Strike drum instrument, they’ve really pushed the barriers of what their RTAS instruments are capable of. While we were in San Francisco, we popped in to Digiworld (Digidesigns own trade show) and talked to Peter Gorges, who heads the team of crack coders and boffins in their German base. What we got was a great insight into the capabilities of these new plugs and I for one was left feeling rather envious and considering getting hold of an RTAS platform, just to access these new intruments. I thoroughly recommend you take a look at the video....
