I spotted this excellent article over at the Inquirer by Charlie Demerjian who questions the new DRM system put in place with Microsofts latest Media Player WiMP11. This new system doesn’t allow you to backup your licenses or even move them to a new computer, without first signing up with the content provider and using the tool they give you. (anyone remember Sonys Rootkit debacle?) Also, files you create by ripping your own CD’s – yep, the ones you bought are also affected by DRM within WiMP11.
