Again on my travels in the lower halls of NAMM I found a fantastic smile which enticed me in to talk about the bizarre product she was holding between her legs. I've pulled some text from their website and there is a link at the bottom so they can tell you about it in their own words...... The JONES VERTEBRAXEâ„¢ is a versatile fretted instrument designed to expand the creative expression of guitarists, bassists and touchstyle players. Whatever your style or technique, you'll find the features of the VertebrAxe facilitates your playing. For Guitarists, the VertebrAxe offers a familiar six string design, with an extra full lower octave, stretching your range into the same range as a 4 string bass. Its available 36 frets make long tapping speed runs easy, all while maintaining the same tuning and string spacing you are used to. Its lightly scalloped fretboard enhances the playability and solid steel frets ring true. The hollow chamber carbon-fiber construction gives precise and solid tone while being far lighter and stronger than wood. In fact, even with the heaviest of optional pickup configurations, the instrument remains less than four pounds. Traveling isn't a problem, either, the body needs no adjustment, and is impervious to temperature and climate changes. Bass players have no need to worry, either. We've addressed their needs. Whether you want to keep your standard 4 string spacing, or make the jump to a tighter baritone-style six string configuration, we have an instrument for you. Available in up to 36 frets, you can invade your guitarist's sonic territory with impunity. Plus, find out what you've been missing by ordering the Sustainiacâ„¢ option to get amazing sustained and bowed effects.

Touchstyle players will find this instrument to be a unique addition to their arsenal. Smaller and lighter than most other similar instruments, The VertebrAxeâ„¢ is something you bring out as a secret weapon. Tune it how you like-fifths, fourths, backwards forwards. Take advantage of the individually adjustable string heights at the nut. Kick on the Sustainiacâ„¢ system for the new tones you've been wanting to experiment with. Coming soon, unique prosthetic bodies to make it a guitar or bass. Also in development is the twelve string VertebrAxeâ„¢ Double Standard. Adjust the instrument to your playing position. Our developers have thought long and hard about the ergonomics of the instrument, and have come up with a variety of methods for holding, hanging, strapping, standing, attaching or otherwise positioning the instrument on or near your body. Select the shoulder hook, a convenient and fast way to get the instrument upright and onto your body. Put it on a stand to keep it at the ready, an extra instrument on stage at all times. Use our cello-style end-pin for more mobile tilt and swivel action, or use the belt hook to play in a more traditional touch-style position. One of these is right for everyone. How's yours hanging? No matter what your style, choose your own combination of active or passive pickups, piezo bridge, or Sustainiacâ„¢ systems to get exactly the tone you desire. The VertebrAxeâ„¢ is designed to be the instrument for you, regardless of the instrument you used to play.
