It’s not too often we hear of older OS support for the new generation of audio interfaces so it’s good know that Edirol have bothered to keep us old timers going for a little longer. Most new stuff appears to only support XP and OS X, but Edirol have just announced Mac OS 9 support for the FA-101, 10x10 FireWire Audio Interface. This driver set includes ASIO2.0, OMS, & FreeMIDI support on Apple computers running Mac OS 9. With OS 9 and OS X support, the FA-101 now offers low-latency, high fidelity, multi-channel audio support to essentially all Mac users. On Mac OS X, the FA-101 is still the only FireWire Audio interface to use Apple's Standard FireWire Audio driver offering complete integration into Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later. Apple has recently further refined this driver with the release of Mac OS X 10.3.7 as seen here:

Edirol's support of Apple's Standard FireWire Audio Driver greatly simplifies the user experience when it comes to installation. Loading drivers is a thing of the past with the FA-101 in OS X. The user simply plugs-in and immediately the device appears offering the best sound quality, performance, and value to the Mac user Mac OS 9 and other drivers for the FA-101 and other Edirol Audio Interfaces can be found at:
