MESSE: Sonic Diary

US Frankfurt - and Sonic win a prize!      03/04/04

Sonic State don't have as far to travel to get to Frankfurt from our offices in Bath England. Two hour drive to Heathrow, followed by a hour long flight then a short train ride to our hotel. Well at least that's what it's supposed to be. If you look at the photo below you'll see Trevor (covering guitars for our new site Guitar Gear ) and Nick (editor in chief) - I'm holding the camera (Dave B - hack and CEO). But where is Andy (commercial developments and Video guru). Andy's forgotten his passport and at this moment is doing slightly under Mach 1 on the motorway (freeway) back to Bath to get it. All was well in the end as he just caught a later flight.

Trevor and Nick on Holiday - but where's Andy?
Well we got over the flight (2 hour delay - aaarrgghh) and settled into our nice hotel (Novatel next to the MESSE but doesn't have broad band as advertised again aaaarrrggghhh) and had a few beers. Early next morning we had a Yamaha press call and we launch into the show full swing. The show itself will be covered in the news. On Thursday night we participated in the traditional and eagerly anticipated Pro Sound News UK press pop quiz (run by Dave Robinson). Last year we teamed up with Future Publishing and almost won. This year Sonic entered a team by itself. We were quietly confident with the legendary Pop trivia talents of Trevor Curwen on display, After a close fight we were declared the winners. I have no photos of the event but we look forward to the Bottle of German wine that we won as our prize. This evening caused a few sore heads but many smiles.
